CustomVue™Surface LASIK  -  Bladeless LASIK

Financing Options

CustomVue™ Surface LASIK provides another option to patients who have been told they can't have LASIK due to thin corneas, dry eyes and strong eyeglass prescriptions.   Because Surface LASIK treats only the surface of the eye, there are less risks for flap complications.  We use WaveScan/CustomVue™ technology for both LASIK and Surface LASIK.  Both procedures have the same precision in the application of the laser treatment with Iris Registration and eye tracking technology.

The main advantage of Surface LASIK is there is no cutting.  Therefore, you have all the benefits of LASIK without the potential for flap complications, although rare.   With regular LASIK, a flap is created and the laser is applied to the deeper layers of the cornea.   With Surface LASIK, we remove the epithelium from the cornea and treat the refractive error on the front surface of the cornea using the VISX Laser.  A contact lens is placed on the eye after the surgery to allow the epithelium to regenerate.  The procedure itself is painless.  For the first few days the eyes feel scratchy.  Complete healing takes a few days and vision sharpens each day.  The final visual outcome for regular LASIK and Surface LASIK is essentially the same.  Luckily, both types of LASIK are very safe and it is rare for a complication to occur.

Ride the Wave to Better Vision with CustomVue™  Surface LASIK!

Castleman Eye Center is excited to offer patients the opportunity to see better than ever before. That’s right. With CustomVue™ Surface LASIK, using WaveScan technology, individuals have the potential to see better than 20/20. In fact, one year after the CustomVue™ procedure, 70 percent of the participants saw 20/16 or better! (20/16 is higher quality vision than 20/20)

Computer Driven LASER Vision Correction

CustomVue™ Surface LASIK uses WaveScan technology that was originally developed for use in high-powered telescopes that reduced distortions when viewing distant objects in space. This technology has now been applied to LASER vision correction. It captures unique imperfections in each individual’s vision that could not have been measured before, using standard methods. This new level of measurement provides 25 times more precision than standard measurements for glasses or contacts.

WaveScan technology drives the CustomVue™ procedure using advanced technology to measure and correct unique imperfections in an individual’s eyes. Best of all, patients will notice results immediately and vision will continue to improve over the next few days. Click here to see how the CustomVue technology works.
