Dr. Apple brings impressive credentials and training to the Castleman Eye Center. He is a board certified ophthalmologist who earned his medical degree at Wayne State University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute and Wayne State University, where he served as chief resident.  Dr. Apple began practicing ophthalmology in 1984. In 1999 he was honored with the Hugh Beckman Award for his commitment to furthering the education of the next generation of Ophthalmologist.

Dr. Apple has continued to prove his expertise with the thousands of successful surgical procedures he has completed. He performs cataract surgery,  LASIK surgery, diabetic eye disease management and glaucoma treatments.  He is a an experienced refractive surgeon, being one of the first ophthalmologists in the Detroit area to perform radial keratotomy (R.K.) in 1986. He has performed thousands of cataract and refractive procedures since then. He is a founding member and past President of the Michigan Keratorefractive Society.   Dr. Apple is certified in Custom Vue VISX Wavefront LASIK, and in VISX Star 4 LASER with Iris Registration and Bausch & Lomb Hansatome.
